Alexandra Ceurvorst
My name is Alexandra Ceurvorst, but everyone calls me Allie. Born in the foothills of Colorado, I grew up in an adventurous family always exploring the peaks of mountains, the depths of the ocean, and the richness of cultures worldwide. Everywhere we went, I always had a camera in hand. As I grew up, I carried with me a passion for adventure travel and documenting the world before me. I received my B.A. in Human Ecology from College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, ME. As the culmination of my degree, I published an art-meets-science children’s book, Beneath the Waves of the North Atlantic. I took three years to explore the aquaculture and biomedical industry, but ultimately followed my heart back to marine science, writing, and science communication through photography, film, journalism, and art. I will attain my Masters from the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School in 2025 after completing a year-long internship in science communication with NOAA’s Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory (AOML) and the Cooperative Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Studies (CIMAS).
